Valley Inner Space Counselling and Assessment Services Ltd. is a locally owned and operated private psychology and counselling practice dedicated to serving the Annapolis Valley and surrounding Nova Scotian communities for their emotional, mental health, and healing needs. Valley Inner Space therapists uphold the highest of ethical standards as they encounter their clients from a culturally responsive, empowering, egalitarian, and non-judgmental position. Our team offers evidence-based and individualized support to children, adolescents, adults across the lifespan, couples, families, and groups encountering a variety of challenges or diverse growth-oriented goals.

It is easy to get started. Either directly email the therapist you are interested in through their individual page or use the ‘Book Now’ button to request an appointment.

Generally, we do not have waitlists, although this may vary based on the therapist.

This is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other. The therapist will review the counselling process to ensure you have given informed consent. They will also begin to gather some background information and why your are seeking counselling at this time. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and determine whether the therapist is a good fit for you.

You do not need a doctor’s referral. Self-referrals are welcomed.

Depending on your therapist, please check with your insurance company to determine if they cover the services of a registered social worker, a registered psychologist, or a registered counselling therapist.
Direct billing is available for eligible Extended Health Care Plans. Please ask for details upon booking.
Receipts will be provided for fees paid for counselling sessions. These can be submitted to group plans that are not eligible for direct billing and used as a tax-deductible medical expense for income tax purposes.

All personal information will be kept confidential. However, there are times when we are legally and ethically obligated to breach confidentiality. These circumstances include:
If there is a reason to believe that you are at serious and imminent risk of physically harming yourself or another person.
If there is reason to believe that a child or dependent adult is being abused and/or neglected.
A court has subpoenaed your records.
