  • Tanya Surette, R.Psych

    For 18 years, Tanya has been a psychologist and counsellor, working with clients and groups of all ages while holding roles in youth care, schools, post-secondary, and private practice settings. She balances her time between being an Associate Professor at Acadia University in the Counselling Program and working part-time with clients in private practice. Tanya brings an interdisciplinary background in psychology, counselling, and education to her work. She has over a decade of experience providing psychological and psychoeducational assessments to children and adults. She has additional training and qualifications nationally as a certified supervisor and provides candidate registrants and counsellors at various stages in their careers with clinical supervision.

  • Kelly Brenton, RCT

    she/her/hers

    Kelly has provided counselling and psychoeducational assessment services to clients and groups for 25 years. While working part-time in private practice, she also works at Acadia University as an Assistant Professor in the M.Ed. Counselling Program. Kelly is committed to empowering clients to see their strengths and use these to move towards desired change and healing. Working through an integrative approach, Kelly journeys alongside the client, incorporating various theoretical approaches through a strengths-based, neuro-affirming, and trauma-informed framework. This focuses on client self-determination and autonomy. She also provides candidate registrants and graduate counselling students with clinical supervision.

  • Belinda Robinson, RCT

    she/her/hers

    Belinda Robinson brings a variety of professional, volunteer, and life experiences to her practice. Her career path has included entrepreneurial ventures and work in adult education, health care, nonprofits, and the Arts. She gravitated to roles which supported her belief in the power of the human spirit and the importance of community, fostering relationships, and accepting and respecting the richness of perspectives in pursuit of a common purpose. Counselling was a natural calling she came to later in her professional life.

    Belinda holds a master’s degree in counselling from Acadia University. She is a Registered Counselling Therapist with the NS College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

  • Dorothy Hunse, RCT-C

    Dorothy is a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association. With a Master’s degree in Counselling from Acadia University, Dorothy tailors her approach to the uniqueness of each client. She welcomes clients into a safe and compassionate space where they can be seen, heard, understood, and valued believing that these are the conditions that support change. Dorothy operates from a strength-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and collaborative perspective, to support clients as they gain insight into themselves and their situations, grow in self-compassion, and are empowered to draw on their innate wisdom and resources to bring about the desired change. Dorothy offers counselling on a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, identity/esteem, relationship issues, transition/loss/grief, end-of-life, and spiritual/existential concerns.

  • Daria Pool, RSW

    Daria Pool is a compassionate and experienced clinical social worker with over 20 years of service supporting children and families. She graduated with an MSW from Dalhousie University and has provided training and consultation to social workers across Ontario, Alberta, and Michigan. Daria fosters resilience, mindfulness, connection, and empowerment, working with children under 12 and adults. She uses therapeutic approaches such as Solution-Focused and Narrative Therapy, as well as Somatic EMDR, to empower clients to navigate life’s challenges. Her expertise includes supporting overwhelmed parents and navigating the challenges of co-parenting. As a certified Diabetes and Mental Health practitioner, Daria brings personal and professional insight to helping clients with chronic illnesses. Daria provides a warm, non-judgmental space for clients, believing everyone possesses the capacity for joy, peace, and self-compassion.

  • David MacPhee, RSW

    David is a Registered Social Worker with a clinicial specialist designation through the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. He received his Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba (2017) and his Master of Social Work from Dalhousie University (2019). David practices from a client-led and trauma informed lens. He is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Attachment and Trauma Focused Therapy (Level I). David works with adults clients offering counselling on a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, stress, career decisions, nagging self-critical thought, interpersonal issues, communication struggles, and processing of “bad sad or scary” memories.

  • Mark Baigent, RCT-C

    Mark Baigent is a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists, a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and holds a Master of Counselling degree from Gonzaga University. Mark is pursuing certification in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT/EFCT), which helps clients create, maintain, or repair strong attachment bonds while working to deepen and improve communication. In addition to his counselling practice, Mark teaches part-time in the M.Ed. Counselling Program at Acadia University, teaching Couples & Family Counselling.

  • Inna Viriasova, RCT-C

    she/her/hers

    Inna is a Registered Counselling Therapist (Candidate) with the NS College of Counselling Therapists and Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Candaian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She supports individuals and couples who want to improve their relationships, and adults, couples, teens, and children who experience anxiety, depression, effects of trauma, or significant life changes. Inna also enjoys working with professors and students, immigrants, neurodiverse, and 2SLGBTQ+ clients. Inna’s approach is attachment-based, relational, depth-oriented, and trauma-informed. When working with children, she relies on sand play and mindfulness-based interventions to support expression and processing of thoughts and feelings. Having lived in several different countries before settling in Canada, Inna is culturally responsive and offers counselling in English and Ukrainian. Inspired by the strength of Indigenous, Black, and 2SLGBTQ+ people, she is committed to building inclusive communities that foster health and wellness.

  • Gina Spidle, RCT

    Gina is a Registered Counselling Therapist with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

    Gina received her M.Ed in Counselling from Acadia University and works at the Acadia Counselling Centre. In her counselling practice, Gina focuses on empowering her clients through a strengths-based, integrative approach, drawing on knowledge from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Polyvagal Theory.
